Church Planting Project in Northeast Brazil
March 15, 2013
Jeremy, Leidiane, AlexMy name is Leidiane, and I am from Cabrobo, Brazil.     Many of my family still live there today.  Within the past year, God has clearly laid it on my heart to reach out to not only my family, but also so many others that are in great need of physical and spiritual care.  I want to share a little of my own story about how God delivered me from such poverty so one day I would be able to help the people of Cabrobo.

I was born in Cabrobo, Brazil and came to the U.S. when I was about 6.  Because of circumstances beyond my control, I moved back to Cabrobo when I was 12 and lived in a one-bedroom house with 10 other people.  When I was a young teen, I became pregnant with Alex.  I had no job and depended on Alex’s dad to support us.  He made only R$300 Reais a month, which is about $150 US Dollars.  After Alex was born, times were even harder; we had nothing to eat but rice and beans and were living in a mud hut.  I wanted a better life for Alex but did not want to leave him.  I decided to move back to the States when Alex got sick and almost died because I had no money for medication.  I had to make the hardest decision of my life by leaving Alex in Brazil and coming back to the U.S. with the hopes of one day being able to bring him here and give him a better future.  Five years later, I finally got Alex through immigration and home with me.  It was the hardest 5 years of my life, but it was worth it because now he has a better future.  But sadly I’m one of the very few who had the opportunity and hope for a better future.

Mud Hut in Cabrobo

I know that each of us has a purpose in this life, and I feel in my heart that I had to go through all those hard times so that one day God could use me as an instrument to help all those who still live my story or much worse in Cabrobo.  These people have no hope for a better life or a future for their children, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

I want to thank you for taking the time to read my story.  Please join me in supporting Living Bread Ministries to help those in need through a church plant in Cabrobo.  Let God use you to make a difference in their lives.  We need to raise $12,000 to start and fund a church plant for one year.  Will you help?
